Social Impact

Message from the founder- Lena Chauhan

Many of my own family member’s lives and people I worked with have been affected by dementia and nobody knew how to manage it – they were pushed from pillar to post with no idea of how to move forward positively or how to talk about it.

For many communities, discussing dementia on a personal level was near impossible even when they were faced with it.

Whilst I was working in the homes of people who had dementia, I noticed stacks of books and brochures lying on coffee tables unread. It was clear that loved ones wanted and needed to learn more, but something wasn’t clicking.

I began providing essential information in bite sized portions as loved ones and carers are often short on time, managing multiple schedules, and not getting good quality sleep.

The information flow had to adapt to the individual needs, so I began crafting personalised, lifestyle plans to help manage the symptoms and practical challenges with dementia.

Rise IQ Social Impact (then co-founded with Cassandra Chiang -Management Consultant) created a web app and voice technology on the Amazon Alexa to deliver quick, simple, intelligent dementia advice and coaching straight to the home.

We won the Impact programme at London Business School delivering the best solution, were finalists at Alzheimer’s Scotland Next Big Innovation and were part of the HS health tech incubator spearheaded by the previous head of DigitalHealth.London.

The programme was validated by UCL Dementia research Unit and sold to a larger distributor.

I am a Dementia Champion volunteer offering dementia information sessions to organisations so that the workforce can develop their understanding if their lives haves been affected by dementia.

My mission is to create awareness and help to build dementia friendly communities everywhere.

I am a mentor for the Deutsche Bank Women in Social Technology accelerator programme as well as the One Health Tech community which is a community about diversity, inclusivity, openness, and kindness for under-represented groups in healthtech, digital health, biotech and medtech.

Please contact me directly on for further information if the any of the above resonated with you.

Thank you
